The next time you feel down, just remember that Bruce Banner tried to kill himself and Tony Stark has anxiety attacks, and they’ve both saved the world. You will be okay.

I LOVE THE LOOK ON HIS FACE WHEN HE GETS POKED. Like ‘Woah there. That was uncalled for.’

Reblogging because this is lovely.

What if, and I’m going out on a limb here, Tony was having a panic or PTSD attack under the water.
We know that yes, he was freaking out as he was going under, but what if it was more than that?
Any person would be freaked out by going underwater suddenly, and not really having much time to catch your breath before water was forced into your lungs and you drowned. It’s a logical fear,
But while in Afghanistan, Tony was being tortured by having his head shoved into a trough of water when he refused to build the Jericho Missile. OBVIOUSLY, after going through that, he must still be slightly scared of swimming and taking baths and possibly water in general because a person don’t simply get over being water-boarded.
They put a lot of dramatics onto this scene in particular, as the director should have because it was pretty crucial to the story line. At first that confused me, because alright, Tony was going underwater and he was trapped. The way he got out was through the removable and armor pieces, demonstrating how the Mark 42 was indeed, really special. Though it was a really stupid suit throughout the most of the movie, it was still amazing how Tony managed to create such a thing.
And during the movie, we see him having anxiety attacks over the wormhole, so maybe his time in Afghanistan was partial to the triggering as well.
And this goes for repeating, he could’ve damn well been having some sort of anxiety attack under the water
It was like his time in captivity.
Because he was stuck underwater, trying to catch his breath, but failing.
And there was really only one thing that saved him: his Iron Man suit.
